Saw this ad' at the CF. Thought you might be interested.

Gulfstar Hirsh 45' fixer upper - $17,000
This 45 foot sailboat was tossed ashore in hurricane Gustav and has suffered superficial damage. This heavily-built center cockpit boat is one of 30 designed by Richard Lazarra, in 1985. Big comfortable layout. Systems need renewing, replacing. call (904) 277-8977 or email svdagny@yahoo.com

Just to help you move this along, it would likely help if you mentioned where the boat is currently lying and either incuded a few photos of the boat and damage sections or a link to a brokerage listing if there is one.
Needless to say, no photos ... since that would require another post

There are some pictures on the Craigslist for it:

45 foot Sailboat, Gulfstar Hersch 45,1985.

Having restored one of these boats myself, I think $17K would be fair if she had a mast and working Perkins engine. Otherwise... not so sure.

Always do the math on these things. I have found a few boats in my time that I thought would be great deals, only to do the math out and realize they would have to pay me a few thousand dollars to make the boat workable.
