Default Madoff yacht, boats top $1 million in auction

Is it me, or does it seem like the items auctioned in FL recently were a complete rip off?

Madoff yacht, boats top $1 million in auction - U.S. business- msnbc.com

The prices for the boats seems a little out of whack to me.

What do you think?

I think that no matter how much the auction brings in, it won't come close to being enough to pay back the victims.

True enough. The people who invested with him lost a lot. In the same breath, I have to acknowledge that the investors' own greed was their downfall. No fund can create the artificial retuns madoff claimed to for that long. The investors were rather sloppy with their due diligence and flush with greed. If it seems too good to be true...

Edit: argh! Damn smartphone keeps using the wrong login!

Totally agree with that. I feel the same way about all the people a couple of years ago who bought houses just to flip.
How does the saying go? "The love of money (Greed) is the root of all evil".
