And a crows nest, it has a crows nest too!

Default Minimax

Wow...those plans bring back memories....

My first racer was the 10' MInimax.
My Dad and I built it in a weekend, if I recall; and he got a hopped-up Merc Super10 (20+/- HP)from a friend, who was afraid of it.....

We hooked that motor to a Dead Mans throttle and off I went.

Opened that that little rig up on Hudson Channel in Freeport, NY.
It was a no wake zone and believe me there was no wake....
That thing skipped across the water like a stone on steroids !!!!!!!!

Third run, the Sea Cops brought me home with a warning....
"Save it for the race course",
Dad took it literally.....that started my racing career.
Raced hydro's 'till college. Have a wall of very expensive plastic trophys!!!!

In college, I joined the sailing team because there were girls on the team, They sailed in wet t-shirts.......

Been a blow boater ever since.

Great memories....many thanks,

fred

This is my favorite site for boat plans An Index of Plans and Articles in the MoToR BoatinG Ideal Series
I love the William Atkin designs.

One of the below appears to be up for sale.

So, there you go Sully. Live on the water. Very Affordable. Set location. Platform to fool around and tinker with.

There are several floating homes like this in the Bay area and delta. Several years ago I might have bought one for a weekend place if I had not lived so far away then. There are also several that are larger.

He he... well, glad to see you're thinking about my situation. It's quite a bit more complex right now, so moving to Oregon isn't in the cards for me.

We'll be sticking to New England for a while... but the wife did say, "we're only going back on a boat if it's in the tropics", which leaves me some hope!

It'll have to be a "retired" kind of thing for us, like it is for most.

Ah, here's the really clever part: Move the house to you (i.e. NE).
Then you just stay there.

There are a lot of large houses built on barge hulls around here and you could tie your little weekender to it each evening.
I would bet there are a lot of old barges around the N.Y. area that would make a great floating home.
