Default 44" Avenger Cat

Ok, this catagory has only one thread so hasn't received much attention.

I'm coming out of the closet here, so be kind....please.

This is another one of my "TOYS", and was wondering if it qualifies me to hang out with the COOL multi-hull guys?

Actually, I was very tempted to build and produce a model of this...60 Pieds Open - Vende Globe complete with r/c control of sails, keel, and daggers. There isn't anyone producing such "toys" now, and it would keep a small company plenty busy!

PS...another toy that has to go...1K anybody? 44" long, 23cc 2-stroke, 60 mph, tons of fun!

RC stuff is a blast. I just don't have the attention span to stick with it. I bought a RC sloop a few years ago. Used it for about 2 months, then got board with it. I showed it to a friend who got hooked, so I gave it to him. Soon the "I have more toys than you do" guy at our yacht club saw it, and had to get a bigger and better one. For the next few months, they were having regattas at the YC with RC boats, but soon everyone got board with them. They were fun for awhile though

Yep, I got bored with this, just going in circles fast. But the planes never got boring to me. I have a beautiful sailplane (12' wingspan) that is just amazing to fly.

My only exposure to RC aircraft was about 40 years ago at an old airport that was turned into a 'nite spot'. Being a large flat area on top of an approx 1000' foot hill it was a great place for them. We were watching a couple guys playing with them.... crashing.... quick repair ..... and back in the air....etc... Then a guy's plane just went straight off to the north...... He was standing there flicking his remote as we all watched it disappear off into the horizon. After a while he just got in his car and left. Lots of woods around so it was probably lost forever. That memory of him staring after it, flicking the remote helplessly, kind of soured the whole idea for me.

Yes Stan, I've seen alot of bad things happen with R/C planes. Fortunately, the equipment is ultra reliable these days, but as with real sailboats, equipment can fail. Proper radio installation and attention to detail will usually reward you with many, many hours of enjoyment.

Ralph, you have to make one of these just a little big larger... then you have your dinghy problem solved! Perfect dinghy!

How about an RC helicopter? Lots of those around, build a slightly larger one and put a pad on the stern for landing.

I have two electric choppers. One can be flown indoors, the other larger and much more difficullt to fly for outside. As I have said, there is much to part with. I'm leaving the "he who has the most toys wins" philosophy behind.

I gave up the "He who wins" idea years ago when I discovered the winner gets all the payments that come with the trophy!
